WHite Dragon Activity Centre
The quest to Rebrand an imaginative small business

The brief:
White Dragon Activity Centre is a gem - a small, genuinely independent outdoor activity centre in the stunning countryside of Bures, on the Essex/Suffolk border.
Named after the local legend of a dragon fought off by archers from the local village, the centre offers archery, axe throwing, airguns, kids’ parties, wedding entertainment and more. Unusually for this sector in an expensive area of the country, it’s entirely family-run, which has given its owner Mark the freedom to give activities a quirky, imaginative spin.
The archery is not just archery - it’s a series of fantasy-themed 3D targets in a gorgeous, secluded woodland. The kids’ party hall started as a barn, but has been transformed into an elaborate castle-themed hall, with pixies peeping from the brickwork. Visit for a party and you might be camo-painted and led on an army-style mission, or taken on a quest through the woods. You get the picture. It’s a cool place.
However, this wasn’t coming across to customers. The centre staff had limited capacity for marketing, local awareness of the centre was low, and although customer reviews were gushing, many visitors had trouble finding and booking online. The website was clunky behind the scenes too, with staff struggling to keep on top of technical updates. And as a small business that did so much - from festival entertainment to educational visits, kids’ parties to stag dos - WDAC was struggling to express what it was and make it findable.
Entangled Creative worked with the centre on an intensive basis to transform the centre’s marketing by understanding and telling the story at its heart.
What we delivered:
Strategy
We analysed sales figures, audience insights, location context and views in local communities to construct a complete marketing strategy, identifying:
A clear story for the centre. This is an imaginative, quirky, inclusive place in a valley steeped in legend, where you can be a hero for a day.
A year-round, budgeted marketing plan to allow the team to focus their time, including analysis of the key audiences for each product
A bright, simple new brand (logo, palette and clear tone of voice) that centre staff could use in their own work
A new website, built on a commonly-used platform so it could be managed in-house, which truly told the centre’s tale - optimised for SEO and GEO
An email marketing funnel and Meta/Google ads to capture new customers and encourage repeat bookings
Priority advertising and listing recommendations, targeted to specific audiences
Photography requirements, focusing on real photography of real customers rather than stock wherever possible
Social media posts and graphics for key upcoming events
Successfully targeted local partnership
The result dramatically increased bookings, helped the team to prioritise the most popular activities and resulted in much higher awareness of the centre in the local area.
“Sam and Hannah were brilliant at bringing out what’s special about the centre. It’s our favourite place and after so long working here, it’s sometimes hard to find the words to explain just how awesome it is. The work they’ve done really shows people who we are and why they should come here.”
